5 ways to volunteer
Volunteers support the work we do at The Center and are impactful ambassadors who amplify our voices and our participants’ voices. Once you join The Center, we hope we can count on you to share facts about homelessness and be a committed advocate in our communities!
Thank you for your interest in helping us break the cycle of isolation and homelessness!

Below are some ways you can get involved.
Do you have a large group of folks who are interested in making a difference in our community? Since The Center is a relatively small space, a remote experience may be convenient for you, yet incredibly impactful!
If your company has a budget to support volunteer activities, we can supply you with a list of supplies for you to put together your own hygiene kits or move-in kits! We are happy to have a staff member come to you to share information about The Center’s work and support your volunteer efforts.
- Making hygiene kits for unhoused neighbors. Travel size items are ideal so the kits are not too heavy for participants to carry. We will provide a list of needs. Hygiene kits can range in price from $5 to $15 per kit depending on how much you want to include.
- Building Move In Kits! We usually have a small budget for appliances and household basics, but government contracts do not always cover expenses including towels, linens, pillows, utensils, dishes, pots and pans, and a person’s first round of groceries for their new home.
- Share resources. Are you a business that can offer supplies? If you manufacture hygiene supplies, always-needed items like new underwear, or provide food, we would love to hear from you. Not only could you provide necessary items for participants, but your staff could volunteer time to sort and drop off if they want to get involved.
You can offer support from the comfort of your home, or throw a hygiene kit making party with your friends! Some ways you can help if you are not able to visit The Center include:
- Making hygiene kits for unhoused neighbors. Travel size items are ideal so the kits are not too heavy for participants to carry.
- Donating your birthday or fundraise among your friends, schools, faith groups, book clubs to build Move In Kits for people moving off the street and into homes. Ask your friends to make a donation to The Center or build hygiene or move-in kits for our participants
- Joining Hang Out Do Good. This is an organization that has supported The Center (and many orgs) by making lunch bags. We receive about 100-200 from Hang Out Do Good every week! Then let us know if you are participating, we’d love to see if we get some of your lunches!
Do you have a green thumb? Are you a regular Michelangelo with your garden sheers?
On the 3rd Sunday of each month, The Center invites volunteers onto our patio to tend to our beautiful garden.
Come sip coffee with us, learn about The Center, and then, get gardenin’!
- Fourth Sunday of the month
- 9 AM until 11 AM
Fundraisers are crucial to supporting non-profits. Do you love making centerpieces or setting up for events? Have connections to printers, caterers, or event spaces that can offer free or discounted rates? We would love to hear from you and have your hands on help. Drop us a line at [email protected]
We are always looking for individuals to share their professional skills by donating their time to The Center. Below is a list of some skills we are always interested in.
- Hair stylist – we would love to offer a day (or more) where participants are offered haircuts
- Photographer and/or Filmmaker – capture our activities and help tell our story
- Cook / Restaurant owners – donate meals and come in to cook or serve a meal. Stay and eat with participants!
- PR – assist in creating and publishing press releases
